Little Lake Stables is located near Rio, WI on farmland that has been in the Walters family for four generations. This land has provided food crops, pasture and housing for beef and dairy cattle, and is still actively farmed for cash crops and hay. However, horses were never far from Dave’s mind, and in 1997 he followed his lifelong dream and converted his dairy operation into a boarding stable. The cow stanchions were replaced with oak stalls he built from lumber harvested from his own woods, and these stalls remain sturdy and solid after years of use.
Dave has loved horses his whole life, and cares for each horse as if they were his own. He and his wife Jeannine provide a welcoming atmosphere for all boarders, and as a result many boarders share years of happy memories of riding together on the trails or sharing good times at barn picnics and cookouts. Named for the lake just down the hill from the barns, Little Lake Stables is where the Walters family hopes that you and your horse will be happy and have fun!
